Rushwick Parish lies on the old main road to Hereford, the A4103 Bransford Road. This was in past centuries the old turnpike road. There is a mix of old and modern houses, and a small number of black and white timber-framed houses still remain, particularly at Broadmore Green. These date from Tudor times and perhaps earlier. Rushwick village itself has now been circumvented by the new Western By-Pass, making the village a quiet backwater compared with previous times.

About Rushwick

The south of the parish is bordered by the River Teme, and there are many beautiful walks along the public footpaths and hams which run along the river. Upper Wick lies between Rushwick village and the river, with many fine views and walks.

To the north, Crown East lies on the A44 road to Bromyard. Aymestrey House, until recently a renowned preparatory school for boys, lies here on the site of the historic Crown East Court.

The Worcester to Hereford railway cuts through the village, and the site of the former Rushwick Halt lies in the vicinity of the railway bridge. Many residents have suggested re-opening Rushwick Halt as a means of increasing the use of public transport in this rural community.
